The root-lesion nematode (Pratylenchus zeae) parasitising mandacaru cactus in Northeast of Brazil

Plants of Cereus jamacaru with root necrosis symptoms were observed in Acopiara City, the state Ceará, Brazil. Using morphological characterization and molecular analysis ITS 28 S rDNA regions, Pratylenchus zeae was identified as etiological agent, confirmed by infection re-isolation nematodes. This is first report P. causing C. jamacaru.
